How to Clean Inside of Oven Quickly and Thoroughly

Cleaning inside the oven is no simple task! The amount of work involved will depend on your oven’s self-cleaning capabilities. These oven cleaning hacks will give you an exciting overview of how to clean inside of oven, whether your oven has a self-cleaning feature or not.

Self-Cleaning

We recommend taking advantage of your oven’s self-cleaning feature. For some ovens, you can leave the racks inside during the self-cleaning cycle. If not, these racks must be taken out and washed separately. Regardless, everything else (e.g. pans, thermometer, etc.) must be removed. Check the control panel or search the user manual online to see if your oven is equipped with a self-cleaning feature and whether the racks need to be removed or not. Keep in mind that it could take up to three to five hours to complete its cycle. Once the unit has completely cooled down to room temperature, wipe down the oven and remove all the debris accumulated on the bottom, sides or the oven door with a damp cloth or paper towel.

Manual Cleaning

If your oven does not self-clean, then the task is more labour intensive. Again, you will need to remove everything - racks, pans, thermometer, etc. from inside the oven. Place the racks in your sink and wash with hot soapy water and a stiff, nonabrasive brush. Next, spray on an even coat of a high-quality chemical store-bought oven cleaner onto the oven's interior walls. For your safety, always open your windows and wear a mask and gloves when using the oven cleaner, as the chemicals are very strong and potent. Let the solution sit for the recommended time, allowing it to lift all the grime and grease on its surface, then perform a deep scrubbing of the entire interior with a damp cloth or sponge.

It is important to deep-clean your oven, at a minimum, every three to six months, along with occasional spot cleaning when required. Of course, if your oven is used more often, then more frequent cleanings may be required. By doing this, you can rest assured that your oven remains germ and odour-free, and your cooked food will be tastier than ever!
